Ryan Garcia Outclasses, But Fails To Stop Reluctant Emmanuel Tagoe
Ryan Garcia was unable to return for the rematch against Emanuel Tagore in San Antonio on Saturday as many expected. Otherwise, he would not have been more influential.
He defeated Garcia Tago in the second round and won by a wide margin, defeating the Ghanaians from start to finish and securing his position as a Premier Lightweight contender in his first fight in 15 months.
Garcia (22-0, 18 KOs) last fought in January of last year when he was knocked out to beat Luke Campbell in seven rounds. He quickly took a breather to take care of his sanity.
He returned to the ring with a new design and new head trainer Joe Gossen in his corner. He hopes to make a good impression in front of the people at the party at the Almodom.
However, Tajo (32-2, 15 KOs) made the task more difficult by focusing more on surviving than not being in a position to win the battle. Garcia ran after him.
Garcia had his first dramatic moment midway through the second round when he knocked out right-hander Tago. However, he got up and did what he had to do to avoid another big push.
For most of the rest of the war, following the same pattern, Garcia advanced on Tazo, striking but not doing enough to end the war.
Tago, who had found some courage, started a rebellion after the war. This allows you to hit an effective punch here and there. This almost led to disaster as Garcia was seriously injured in the right hand in the tenth round.
Again, Tago, the skilled boxer, grabbed his legs and used them to survive the round and finally had to hear the final bell.
The official scores were 119-108, 119-108 and 118-109. Bokzanki scored 120-107, which is close to Garcia.
"It's moved a lot," Garcia said. "I'm not going to lie, it was a new experience. I need to sound better against the guy who moves 12 laps. I think if I had started practicing more aggressively at the beginning of the war, I would have."
the story goes on
"What can I say? It was hard to come."
With this win, of course, Garcia, one of the biggest draws in the sport, was back in contention for the 135-pound title.
When asked, he thought he'd be ready to fight a potential opponent like Garvonta Davis, but with a seemingly more cautious approach to selling himself, he didn't take the opportunity to talk about the mayhem.
"In the past, I have always been in contact," the 23-year-old said. "I grew up, I grew up. I let my team handle it... When it's lit, it's lit. Right now I trust my team."
