Gerfonta "Tank" Davis did not have an easy last night at the Barkley Center in Brooklyn. Faced with a completely sold-out crowd, the 27-year-old WBA champion had to overcome some frightening moments when his opponent, the undefeated contender number one Rolando "Rully" Romero, suffered. Romero was great, at least compared to Tank. Also Romero, contrary to what some thought, engaged in an excellent strategy, which fell after a powerful blow to his smaller opponent.

After all, nothing matters. In the eighth round, Romero was on the ground, with his face clenched behind the ring ropes. The brilliant contender was able to stand up, but the referee was smart and experienced enough to know that Romero's chances of winning are now over and any future ahead was more damaging than allowing Romero to continue the game. . . And so Girfonta raised his already impressive record to 27-0, with both victories coming by knockout.

Make no mistake: Davis is a superstar and with good reason. Not only can he turn off the lights in an instant, but the Baltimore native remains calm under the fire, as his mentor Floyd Mayweather is known to do. It will take some kind of special person to defeat this guy. And of course, Ryan Garcia considers himself as well. Just after Davis throws the reckless Romero, Garcia, a massive shooter and very spoiled on social media, very confident, calls Davis.

"Let me run the business on July 16," he wrote on Twitter. "I'll take Tank, he shouted all the fight that I'll be next, so let it be ... in December we'll take #TankRolly." Needless to say, the Davis-Garcia match will be a big event. With 22-0, Garcia is impressive on his own, having beaten the talents of Luke Campbell. Perhaps most important to the couple, Garcia wears eyes and dollars, many of them. Both California and Davis are young, well-known and explosive. In short, they represent the future of the sport. A fight in December will be big enough to attract those casual fans about whom journalists talk so much.

However, before any semi-serious negotiations can begin between Team Davis and Team Garcia, Garcia must bypass his as yet unidentified opponent on July 16th.
