Dwayne Haskins: What We Know About His Death, And How The NFL Reacted To The Tragic Passing Of The Pittsburgh Steelers QB
News of Dwayne Hoskins' death on Saturday morning shocked the sports world, and for good reason .
He is only 24 years old. He will turn 25 on May 3. He may be months away from becoming the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the NFL's most famous franchise.
The future looks bright. But after a while it all ended.
A day later, we see what we know about Hoskins' death and how the sporting world reacted.
What do we know about Haskin' death?
Hoskins re-signed with the Steelers on March 11 and is said to be training with his South Florida teammates for next season.
He posted a video on his Instagram account on Friday showing the Nazis making fun of him by going after Harris. This appears to be his last social media post.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Hoskins was trying to cross westbound I-595 in Broward County at 6:37 a.m. Saturday when he was hit by a dump truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to several reports.
A preliminary investigation into the traffic crime has begun.
It is not clear why Hoskins attempted to cross the highway on foot.

Nearly every athlete and coach Haskins spoke to posthumously on Saturday mentioned his smile and energetic personality.
Pittsburgh recipient Chase Klipol posted a video of himself crying on Twitter Saturday night.
"Dwayne, I'm just looking at you... and I love you, brother," she says in the clip.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin was the first to issue a statement regarding the team shortly after Hoskins' death was announced.
"I am devastated and cannot speak about the tragic death of Dwayne Hoskins," Tomlin said. "Once he arrived in Pittsburgh, he quickly became part of the Steelers family and is one of our strongest employees, both on the pitch and in our community. Praying with his wife, Colbra and his family during this difficult time."
As his teammates remembered.
TJ Watt wrote on Twitter, "Today the world has lost a great man." "When Dwayne first walked into the dressing room I knew he was a happy guy. He always made people laugh and never let them live. His influence on me will last forever."
Cam Hayward also published his thoughts.
Hayward wrote on Twitter, "Dwayne has a lot to say to a lot of people." "His smile is contagious and he is the man you want to be. We were all shocked to lose him. We will miss him too. We lost you so quickly. Luckily you were lucky enough to know you. RIP DH."
Hoskins is also famous in the league.

Hoskins was a star at Ohio State before he was placed 15th overall by captain Washington in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The team let him go in the 2020 season and was accepted by the Steelers early in the 2021 season.
Hoskins was born in New Jersey and raised in central Pennsylvania as a young man. Playing at Police School in Potomac, Maryland, he only had one season as a starter before becoming a well-equipped player with a stake. It was a great season, though, as Hoskins set a betting record with 4,831 yards before finishing with 50 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
This helped him become a Maxwell Award semi-finalist, placing third in the Heisman vote.
Haskins also had the All-Big Ten first team picks in 2018 and the Top Ten MVPs that year. He was Griez-Bryce's quarterback this year and won the Sammy Tiger Trophy and Kellen Moore Award that year.
It was the 2019 Rose Bowl MVP.
Hoskins signed a $14.37 million deal with Washington in 2019 and made promises, even winning the Pepsi Rookie of the Week for his performance in Week 12 against the Detroit Lions. But after Hoskins fought back in 2020 and clashed with the team over alleged breaches of COVID-19 protocol, among other charges, he was acquitted mid-season.
The Steelers signed him in January 2021 and he spent last season behind Ben Rotleberger and Mason Rudolph on the depth chart and inactive in all but one game. However, his hefty hands, huge advantage and what he was able to show in his only season with the team was enough to convince the Steelers to re-sign him in early March. He is expected to compete with newly signed Mitch Trubiski and Mason Rudolph for the chance to replace the retired Rothlisberger.
Roethlisberger tweeted about Hoskins' smile on Saturday, saying he wanted to spend more time with him and "I still wish I could throw a ball like you!" He added that he and his wife would help Mrs Colbrick in prayer
