‘Kingdom Hearts 4 Will Launch In Unreal Engine 5
Following the announcement of Kingdom Hearts 4, the game will be fully updated to Unreal Engine 5.
According to Famitsu (VGC translation), Square Enix appears to be testing the game on Unreal Engine 5 in preparation for the final release, although the film's first trailer will run on Unreal Engine 4 in real time.
According to the publication: "The entire game will be played on Unreal Engine 5 and the quality of lighting and detail will be many levels higher."
The movie trailer has a more realistic art style than its predecessors, but it also has an animated look that many fans will be familiar with.
Unreal Engine 5 is a real-time 3D rendering tool designed for photorealistic visuals and immersive gameplay, perfect for British Hearts 4's intended visual style.
Kingdom Hearts 4 launched yesterday (April 10) to commemorate its 20th anniversary. The 8-minute presentation includes the first action-adventure trailer, the latest graphics, and an old-fashioned Sora that feels like a modern fantasy game.
City Squares is seen alongside Disney's Donald Duck and Goffey. During the trailer, Sora battles a heartless enemy in the city, marking the first official game for the fourth consecutive season. The game's combat mechanics seem to line up fast-paced events, and Sora is equipped with the famous Cyblad.
Square Enix has yet to confirm a release date or platform for Kingdom Hearts 4.
In other post-announcement news, many fans have also speculated that a particular frame in the trailer could indicate a level of the game related to Star Wars. The frame in question shows a forest reminiscent of the planet Endor, as well as an AT-ST tripod. Thanks to the intellectual property of Disney Star Wars, fans can experience the Kingdom Hearts 4 universe.
