In 2018, Dabba was arrested and charged with a fatal shooting in Walmart, North Carolina. He was not convicted of the shooting and his charges were dropped after a key witness failed to appear in court, Fox 46 reported.

He was later found guilty of carrying a concealed weapon, the NME reported.

Last year, DaBaby received widespread reactions for working with rapper and alleged abuser Tori Lanez and for making gay comments on stage. This led to criticism from the artists he worked with, including Dua Lipa, and the removal of the festival poster.
