Twitter (TWTR) Investor Group Tops Elon Musk As Largest Shareholder With 10.3% Stake
Vanguard Group has invested in Twitter, recently increasing its ownership to 82.4 million shares, or 10.3 percent of the company.
One of the main stories of this week is Elon Musk's relationship with the company on Twitter. Musk bought a large stake in Twitter, flirted with the board and eventually changed his mind about joining the board, now offering Twitter acquisition for $ 43 billion. This seems to have shocked other investors on Twitter as well. Vanguard Group, one of the company's largest investors, has increased its investment in the company and bought enough shares, gaining 10.3 per cent of the total shares, making it the largest shareholder in Twitter.
The news of Vanguard's investment growth on Twitter was reported today in The Wall Street Journal. According to the report, Vanguard Group bought more shares in Twitter, increasing its total stock to 82.4 million shares, or 10.3 percent of the company. That makes Elon Musk the largest shareholder, who now owns 9.2 percent of the company.
Investors may be worried that Elon's horse races have taken to Twitter this week. Earlier this week, Musk and Twitter announced they could join the board, but some conditions did not seem to match what Elon Musk wanted to achieve. Twitter has finally announced that it will not join the board soon. Then, today, Musk suddenly offered to buy Twitter for $ 43 billion. Musk was also part of TED Talk, saying he wants to make Twitter a platform for free speech. This "open source" platform seems to include algorithms and company personalization.
For all the panic that is happening now, Twitter is expected to resist Elon Musk's attempt to buy the company. Its investors seem to be trying to limit Mascard's control over Vanguard's deep investment problems. Stay tuned for more interesting developments as this story goes on.
