Joy Behar Recalls The Moment An 'Honest Mistake' Led To Barbara Walters 'Firing' Her From The View
Joy Behar reminisces about unforgettable moments with former The View partner, Barbara Walters.
Walter Rosie O'Donnell, 79, of Behar, 79, was fired for "accidentally airing" a 2006 special episode of People's Behind the Table: A View Reunion while appearing on a talk show.
Recalling phone conversations with former original viewers — presenter Meredith Vieira and presenters Star Jones and Debbie Matnopolus — Behar said Walter's response was "famous."
"The phone is ringing. Hi Joy, this is Barbara," Bahar shared a clip from the extended meeting. "Oh, hello Barbara!"
Behar later recalled Walter, who made The View in 1997, saying, "I called from tonight's entertainment and I guess what did they say?" Oh, Rosie Odonel is coming to the show.
Behar jokes "Meedith Viera?" Recommended. Vieira, 68, Jones, 60, and Matnolulus, 47, laughed.
Although this might sound ridiculous, Vieira was taken aback. "Really what?!" asked Bahar, and his eyes and jaw opened in disbelief.

"You dropped the bus!" Matenopulous was joking, so Viera said she would drink Behara in her empty cup.
"I said, 'Crucify Meredith Vieira?'" Walt repeated. Joey Behar did it. And I want to know that I will not renew your contract."
Behar Walters was shocked and defended himself. "Barbara, it was just a mistake," I said. It's a real bug, you know how when you buy "Behar Joke"! he says.
Walter wasn't sure. Behar recalls Walters' response: "You are a blank ball and I did not renew your contract." "Everything is fine here."

He then said to Walters, "No!" he says. Before you turn off the phone. "I was surprised for a moment," continued Bahar. "Really? For that?"

History is just one of many topics that will be covered behind the table at the Background Profile Meeting. The View's first four co-editors recalled the time they spent on the show during a special interview with ABC News Monday.
The original 30 minute special was filmed 25 years ago in a hotel room in Essex, New York and watched by women.
"Four women chose Barbara Walters to meet at the Hot Topics table during Walter's first talk show in 1997," the statement said.
"They saw what it was like to work with a popular broadcaster, discussed their most iconic looks from the show, and shared their biggest regrets and moments that brought them together behind the scenes," the statement added.
The show is currently in its 25th season with Har, HOP Goldberg, Sonny Houston and Sarah Heins in attendance.
The behind-the-scenes visual revival will premiere on Hulu starting Monday, June 20.
The show airs at 11 p.m. ET on ABC.
